Perfect Weather

Posted on: May 3, 2009

There’s nothing like actually enjoying a weekend to help recharge your batteries properly. Too often, I feel like the weekend flew by and I have nothing to show for it, nothing accomplished. However, I can honestly say that this weekend I not only accomplished a lot, but I also enjoyed it thoroughly.

Today I went to see the new X-Men movie, Wolverine. Having seen all three previous movies (and being horribly disappointed with the most recent), I didn’t go in expecting much but I really liked it. It was interesting to learn about Wolverine’s background.. although, being the chick that I am, I had to cover my eyes during most of the violent fighting scenes (of which there were many). And speaking of, why do people take their really young children to see these kind of movies? I mean, the line “blow his brains out all over the road” (and I’m paraphrasing here, though that could be the actual line, word for word) shouldn’t be heard by someone under the age of 13, don’t you think?

When I got out of the movies, the sky had gone from overcast to partly sunny… and by the time I got done grocery shopping, it was nearly cloudless. Perfect weather to sit out by the pool and read a good book. Ahhh.

Unfortunately tomorrow it’s back to work… but at least this weekend was well spent!

I agree! A weekend like this one are perfect. Mine was just what I needed. Although I didn’t get any cleaning or laundry done, there was something about the chilled times I had with friends that was just perfect.

Oh by the way…I think you and I have to get together to go see the SATC sequel together. It could be my first time to Texas or your first time to Arizona! Eh?

Yeah exactly, I only did one load of laundry (clothes) but cleaning was left by the wayside. Ah well.

Oooh sounds exciting! That’d be awesome!

love the colors in your shot. and thanks for the mini review, I was wondering how Wolverine was! I think I may see it this afternoon, after I finish editing pictures!

curious ~ thank you for the happy birthday wishes 🙂 it was wonderful, and i hope to post pictures of the incredible dinner my husband made.
your blog and pictures are inspiring…my hat off to you for your commitment to project 365….love all the colors in April.
Have a great day.

Thank you so much for your kind words!

I am waffling on seeing the Wolverine movie, since they butchered the Dark Phoenix saga so terribly. Add onto that that Wolvie is one of my top 3 favorite superheroes, and I dont think Hugh Jackman was ever quite perfect for the role (just my opinion..). So did they stick to the “canon” origin story, or reinvent it?

I kinda dig Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, but I never read the comics, just seen the movies… and I vaguely remember the cartoon. So as for the origin story… I’m not sure, but from what I can tell, based on a question I had *about* the movie… I think they reinvented it.

But wait… what’s the origin story, according to you (and, you know, canon)?

Spoiler alert to those who might not know!!

According to the “Origin” book, he was born in 19th century Canada on a plantation. He was a sickly boy until his mutant powers manifested and he had the beginnings of his bone claws.

The rest is, as they say, history. Most everything that follows has been covered in other books, from him living in Japan, having a kid, being in some wars, and eventually getting the adamantium grafted onto his bones.

Did they do things differently in the movie?

Well that part sounds about right. Yeah, that’s what happened in the movie. Did he have a brother tho?

I dont recall if he had a brother, but there were a few other kids involved in the story, one of them looked a lot like you would have expected Logan to look like back then, but I think that was to throw the reader off the trail. If I recall, that boy had a father named Logan, which is where he took the name from, as he was born with the name James I think. I believe one of the other kids was hinted at being Victor Creed (Sabertooth), but it was been at least 5 years since I read that book.

Oooh yes. Yup, they kept calling him Jimmy and then suddenly they started calling him Logan… I had to look it up online to find out why, lol. And yup, Victor aka Sabertooth was there too.

See, maybe you’d like the movie. Granted, you know what’s gonna happen… well, most of it anyway. :p

Well, seeing it on the big screen is always fun even if you know whats going on! Plus, I can compare it to the comics and see what changes were made to make it into a movie!
